Emergency Lighting & Signage
We offer comprehensive Emergency Lighting Solutions designed to ensure visibility and safe egress in all conditions.
Emergency Lighting Services
Emergency lighting is a crucial component of any building’s safety infrastructure, providing illumination during power outages or emergencies to guide occupants to safety. Our solutions comply with safety regulations and standards, providing peace of mind and enhancing the safety of your property.
During emergencies such as fires, power outages, or evacuations, normal lighting systems may fail, leaving occupants in darkness and increasing the risk of accidents or injuries. Emergency signage and lighting serves as a reliable backup, illuminating escape routes, stairwells, and exit paths to facilitate safe evacuation. It also ensures that emergency personnel can navigate the building efficiently to provide assistance.

Emergency Lighting FAQs
What is emergency lighting, and why is it important?
Emergency lighting is a battery backed up lighting system that illuminates escape routes and facilitates safe evacuation. They come in various shapes and sizes, and operate either in a “Maintained” mode or “Non Maintained” mode during power outages. It’s crucial because it helps occupants navigate buildings in darkness, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring timely evacuation during emergencies.
What types of buildings require emergency lighting?
Emergency signage and lighting is essential for all types of buildings, including residential, commercial, industrial, and public facilities. It is mandated by building regulations to ensure the safety of occupants in the event of power failures or emergencies.
How often should emergency lighting be tested and maintained?
Emergency lighting should be tested and maintained regularly to ensure it functions correctly when needed. UK Fire safety legislation stipulates monthly functional tests, or “flick tests” are carried out by the occupier, and annual full-duration tests are carried out by professionals. This annual routine maintenance should be conducted to check for defects, replace batteries, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
What are the different types of emergency lighting products available?
Emergency signage and lighting products include emergency exit signs, bulkhead lights, LED emergency lighting units, and emergency spotlight fixtures. Each type serves a specific purpose, such as marking escape routes, providing general illumination, or highlighting critical areas like fire alarm call points. Systems either operate in a “Maintained” or “Non Maintained” mode, where by maintained will keep the light is illuminated all of the time, and when the power is removed, the battery back-up will take over to keep it illuminated. Non Maintained lighting only illuminates when the power is removed. When the power is restored the batteries should then recharge themselves in most cases.
